After getting denied once, I’ve come to a conclusion on how to answer questions in an American Embassy.
I don’t know how American Embassies operate around the world aside my home country, but after going to the embassy three times, I believe the best way to answer visa question is to look directly into the visa officer eyes and give straight forward answers.
These visa officers are trained to do their jobs and they know when you are scared and probably when you might be lying. Please don’t also beat around the bush, they have hundreds of people to interview and this might make you sound not truthful. They normally ask questions and then start typing on their computer and sometimes most of us get carried away by what they are typing and fear might set in. Smile, act respectful and look them in the eye to show you are confident. Jokes can help but not too much so as not to make you seem irresponsible.
