Is it boring living in Canada?

I have lived in London Ontario (2hr driving from Toronto) for two years and as a young man I have found Canada boring most of the year.

Downtowns are usually empty, if people go to the downtown it is because they need to do something but not to hang out with friends or family. There isn’t really any street food you can go to, nor any musicians playing, downtown is usually empty, with a few exceptions during the summer festivals on weekends.

People prefer to spend time indoors and limit their socializing to a small group of people. Additionally, Canada has many regulations. For example:

  • If you wanna have a BBQ in a public park you have to book it and pay more than 100 CAD.
  • Most of bars and night clubs close before 2 am
  • Alcohol has strict regulations, only certain places can sell alcohol.
  • If you wanna play soccer in a public park you have to book it and pay a fee (which is not cheap)

Nature and parks are very beautiful, but they don’t use them to hang out, only to exercise or walk their pets. For example in this photo, the park is completely green and you can have great contact with nature, exercise and breathe fresh air. However, it is not a good place that allows you to interact with people.

At least where I come from, a park has musicians, acrobats, clowns or any type of artist. In addition to delicious street food, so people use to go there to socialize and have a good time.

These are my thoughts, of course this may be different in each city, but at least that’s how it is in the city where I live, London Ontario.
